GRILL BALANCE WEEKEND !

Along with a 3rd Strike Ladder on a $ $ $ amount pot increase per player ! 2$ Given to each player , 1$ buy in per set , you bust you're out . Player with the biggest stack by the end of the night takes all ! Stylo sponsoring the pot !

Broadcast :

There were some issues last Saturday where the two player cams on the Versatile City A had froze , followed by a 3 second break in audio , to continue on with restored by desynchronized audio . What caused this ? USB dropout ! A single drop out on a video device device in OBS will require disable / enable to restore . However our audio devices will require a full unplug and plug back in , this goes for our loss of midi-function as well .

Short guide in the works for dealing with this that should be useful to those using a large number of (and important) USB resources . This most recent problem was caused by this box being checked :

  Screenshot 2024-07-06 113814.png (Size: 22.35 KB / Downloads: 5)

Moved all USB off the low bandwidth on-board bus to dedicated 5Gbps

3rd Strike audio capture is a lot lower than it should be , due to how the side stream was configured . The main stream has been updated to match those hardware settings .

Hardware :

The Blanc's now have full PS5 controller support

It's Big Daddy Bison Weekend ! We got Bison and a couple new titles . Announcement for the announcement for a new event during the week . Nothing too crazy going on this Saturday , grinding it out , eating snacks , the usual ! CEO this weekend so we'll have CEO streams on deck at some point .

Humidity was bad this morning threatening the new Upstairs Hall Ventilation Program but has really been drying out , big bonus ! By 2PM we should be good and dry to maintain an outside temp / humidity wind temp !

Big grilling and visitors from out of town for July 4th Weekend coming up after this weekend !

A second CPS-III has been acquired for the New VS CITY , with a weekly 3rd Strike night in the works , Timeless Romance In The Versus City ! Bit of a ways off but the cab is progressing . Nothing set in stone yet in terms of dates / times but is simple as it sounds , a weekly dedicated 3rd Strike rotation on the NVC .

Hardware :

Station D has had the Maintenance Keyboard issue of dropping out resolved . The USB dongle has been placed on a disconnect and routed up into the control panel frame .

Game Soft :

Soul Calibur 2 Team Fight went incredibly well last weekend , VOD Here ! Shoutouts to Clint for donating ALL the Soul Calibur 6 DLC with a lot of renewed interest in the latest SC to the series !

Also big thanks to ArcadeRandomPosting for the donation of sanitizing wipes , paper towels , an additional trash can for the Upstairs Hall , trash bags and hand sanitizer !  This really goes a long way , thank you !

And thanks to all of those who brought out stuff to cook , drinks , snacks or did cooking and help cleaning up last weekend that made the grilling so good .

Majorly big thanks to Chron for the donation of a Sega New Versus City ! !

Hardware :

We have taken receipt of an incredible donation . . A Sega New Versus City . For those who know of our two Versatile City setups , they are the unshelled version of this machine with way smaller monitors . Follow along with our Build Thread Here ! !

Broadcast :

Windows Update broke things again . It seems they have adjusted selective USB suspend settings and reverted us having disabled this . Windows has since been selectively suspending the serial bus that handles scene switching on the Broadcast Deck . This has been adjusted , and further considerations being made through this week .

Space :

Some new decor in the Head to Head Room ! Huge thanks to Arcade Candy Co. for the gift of the 3rd Strike banner ! And a shout out for the dope ass Jazzy Circuit banners !

We ordered a new box fan in and extension cord but Amazon sent the wrong one , returning but borrowing the one we had on ITG while we wait , so now on Saturday ( if not raining ) we can have cross ventilation and exhaust the Upstairs Hall to the outside in a budget but functional way . The grind sessions have been intense , we endure the heat , we do our thing . That says something .

So any way to ensure the continuous battle in comfort , we can try new things . Unless someone wants to donate few thousand dollars to correct the root of the problem ! You're welcome to do so !

Mortal Kombat 1

We finally got one!

The Sega New Versus City . Our Jazzy cab right here .

Absolute great shape, was a donation! Nothing major missing, just monitors. All the wiring is there, PSU, topper hardware. All the missing panels in the photo above are here just removed in the photo. Panel fitment looks rough, that's cause all the bolts are missing, someone had this taken apart to pull the monitors and just set it aside after that.

A lot of new parts ordered from Japan, going to get this fully functional first then some time far in the future worry about cosmetic stuff like a respray of all the yellowed plastics to color match original.

Sadly, this machine will never go downstairs. Unless we figure out a ramp and pulley system to make that happen, this thing is big and while it's not terribly heavy, it's awkward to move unless it's 4 or more people in a wide open space moving in one direction!! But it will 100% get set up.

General :

UNDER NIGHT IN-BIRTH II Sys:Celes
Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising
SAMURAI SHODOWN
Skullgirls 2nd Encore

Build log / info for the Main Stage setup for use of the PS2! This was built for the first Soul Calibur 2 Team Fight.

For use on the Main Stage, with Live Monitor and Stream Capture.  The upscaler is not the best, but does let us do 4:3 on there, though the Stream won't accept 640x480 just yet. Thankfully SC2 has a native 16:9 mode! Maybe it just looks like what a PS2 would look like on a big LCD? But it works great!

System Interconnect :

Parts Used :

PS2 (With HDD loading / FMCB)
Shielded PS2 Component A/V Cables (Shielding is important, you can get some annoying noise on them otherwise)
Component to HDMI Upscaler (Cheapish Amazon one, 45$)
HDMI Splitter 1 in 3 Out
HDMI Cables (Upscaler to Splitter, splitter to Live Monitor, splitter to Player Monitor, then one back to your capture)

Couple stream side views

Wanted to share the DVR setup for recording on the Versatile City B for anyone else looking to do a similar budget build. This originally was used as the DVR for 3rd Strike, which then turned into the dedicated 3rd Strike Araiguma Side Stream before that got upgraded by using the old Head to Head computer running 30th, replaced by the CPS-III .

I say discount but the USB A/V capture was like 50 bucks.. Went with this because I tried 3 different 20$ ones and just had nothing but problems (You might want to give it a shot). SSD was 13$ and the laptop was free, the specs speak for themselves as what you can use for your DVR for match footage.

Hardware Used:

Inspiron 15, 2017 (dumpster dived) - i5, 4GB RAM, Intel HD Graphics 620 (Intel UHD), 128GB SSD

  Capture.PNG (Size: 13.53 KB / Downloads: 8)

  hjb.PNG (Size: 10.6 KB / Downloads: 8)

Random USB mouse (left click on palmrest is broken - also just found this on the ground somewhere)

I-O Data  (アイ・オー・データ) GV-USB2

I'm told the drivers are super difficult to find for this, and people have had varying success with those on the CD, this is what is equipped with our DVR attached to this post.

Software Used:

OBS Studio (Setup Wizard, Optimize for Recording Only - No Streaming)

Video Settings:

  Capture1.PNG (Size: 14.29 KB / Downloads: 8)

  2.PNG (Size: 6.95 KB / Downloads: 8)

This setting will vary for you, this is based on the equipment being captured and the specific video amplifier / splitter we're using .

  3.PNG (Size: 10.09 KB / Downloads: 8)

Single Source - GB2

Base Canvas Resolution = 640x480 (4:3)

From the Organizer :

" Entrust your noble soul to your sword. The next team fight tournament has been decided to be Soul Calibur 2.

Our illustrious coaches are Geist (Matthew) and Serenative who've spilt much blood on the stage of history. They'll be responsible for picking teams and giving advice during the tournament.

Co-captains will also be assigned to each coach who are responsible both for playing on their team and commentating during the tournament. I've already been assigned co-captain to team Geist so a camera comfortable co-captain is required for team Serenative.

Teams will be picked kindergarten playground style. People picked last for each team will play first, those picked second to last will go next, and so on. This means everyone should be able to fight an opponent or roughly equal skill level. Winner stays until they lose a set.

There are no required sign-ups or commitments to participating in the tournament. Teams will be picked right before the competition begins.

If you're interested in participating in this team fight, please respond to this message so I can poll everyone to see which days work best the most people. If you have any additional questions, contact @Clint ( Discord ) "

Back from last weekends break for Combo Breaker !

We've got Uni2 Brackets both Beginners Bracket then Open Bracket to follow . Sign ups at the door !

Something new we're asking , is that individuals start picking up after themselves . Since the start it was never really a thing , many offered to help clean up at the end of the night , but we just take care of it during the week . However with an influx in the action , it has been a lot ! So yes , if you can please ensure you put your trash and recycling in the bins !

Broadcast :

We've added a scoreboard , using SBE ( Score Board Edit ) to the Stream in place of the old Ticker ! The software for it is very barebones but easy enough to navigate . Extra long names don't have automatic scaling or even centering so some text might be a bit off while we figure this out but we've finally got one up ! Assuming it doesn't break . . Again .

The Versatile City B now has Capcom Fighting Collection configured and available

ACEN weekend ! Shoutouts to all the folks up north right now !

Currently another Team Fight Tournament is being planned , hoping to be another regular occurrence along side MBON , this time with Soul Calibur 2 ! More information on the Discord under #Brackets ! Platform is still undetermined , there is a lot to consider on the hardware/software side but leaning toward PS2 for being nearest to arcade and gameplay being that of Rev C on the SC2 machine in the Upstairs Hall .

There is also talk of a Kyanta bracket this weekend happening , sign ups as usual will be on site .

Broadcast :

Possibly no main stream this Saturday, down for updates but the 3rd Strike side stream will still be going .
