Shoutouts to the rest of you for surviving another gauntlet of Finals , this Saturday is for you too . Well done !

Looking at a high of 71 , and no rain the night before or day of , so no humidly to fuck with us . Shoutouts to Naomi for donating the big tornado tower fan , it's been a huge help in the Upstairs Hall ! 

Something else to note , we do have Ducks now , please don't bother them at this time , how tempting it might be ! They are under a very slow rehab after a horribly long period of neglect and abuse , and are enjoying a nice rest ! Once things settle down for them , they can have visitors ! 

Signs also now showing , both front and rear gates MUST be kept closed after use . 

The rear gate is now locked and unable to be used . Sorry for the Meijer runs ! It is for the safety of the Ducks . 

Space : 

The Upstairs Hall Monitor has been upgraded to a slimmer less heat producing model that displays full screen and a much better picture . Audio has also been routed to this display !

   

Station Letters have added to all cabs and setups . Station A being The Main Stage , B and C are the " Couch Setups " with their identifiers on the rear of the monitors . Station D , E , F and G are all cabs in the Upstairs Hall . This will help us step it up with more tournaments happening . 

   

Hardware :

The Blanc's aka future Main Stage Cabs are now live and operational !

   

The Blanc's now have full USB controller support for those who play on pad with conveniently located ports .

   

   

Main Stage Volume is now set to control only from this location , marked . The old volume control has been locked out . This keeps the broadcast audio from being effected by adjustments . All handling from there is done at The Cage .

   

Main stage had no issues last Saturday in the MVCI bracket , time stamps on the USB logs checked , no issues at all . Last weeks resolution has corrected issues with some controllers . 

Broadcast :

The broadcast computer has been upgraded , allowing for better video/capture quality . USB handling has also been upgraded , the H2H Room Mic is back .

   

The dedicated 3rd Strike YouTube Stream camera has been adjusted to a better angle and made adjustments to the video capture , along with a border around the gameplay making it a lot better viewability .

General :

No rain and lots of homies traveling from afar including some new folks this Saturday ! Going to be a good one ! 

Space :

We got the corkboard up for the photo wall ! What is the photo wall ? A community spotlight of all the regulars , and visitors from afar ! This was an early day plan when first waiting for a space downtown , before setting up in the current location . And here we are ! Shuffled some stuff around on the walls and got a few more things up to just beef up the decor a bit .

   

Additionally the lighting has been adjusted in The Cage to improve commentary video . We ensured to keep this brighter lighting from illuminating MBON . MBON is now nice and dark again , more so than it was previously . 

   

Hardware : 

Main Stage USB has had some issues with two controller types . It has been reported this issue is not present on the cabs . Reviewing logs , there were a couple concerning timestamps that look like combability issues between these two devices. The USB is now configured on the Main Stage the same as on the cabs .

There are also a couple reminders ! Do remember this is run out of someone's home . Remember to try and be courteous to that , especially in the bathroom . If you miss the toilet with anything , please clean it up .

We have several times now considered a ban on alcohol due to incidents with people drinking too much , though being such a low frequency , it has been pushed off .  This is a fighting game local , not a house party . 

Drinking and smoking for of age people is generally not a problem and accepted , but several times now it has gone a bit far , and when this happens , we become the exact opposite of what we strived to become . A place of comfort , and good health .  

This is also not the place to experiment with drugs of any kind . If you have never had alcohol , do not try it first here . Never smoked weed ? Please not experiment with it here

Day late on the update ! This is okay , right ? ?

Chilly Saturday with a high of 53 , grills available but coal stock is low . It is also 420 for those of you who celebrate ! Little Caesars running any deals though ? ?

Hearing there is possibly a Skullgirls bracket today , not confirmed at this time but it is sounding like this is the plan .

And to mention Char Night is next week , April 27th ! Bring your best oversized glasses , and accompanying battle gear of your choice to the MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM EXTREME VS MAXIBOOST ON tournament ! More info again in next weeks update ! 

Then May 4th , The Killer Instinct ! KI bracket ! More information coming !

Hardware : 

Batteries on the keyboards / Mice have been replaced .

Broadcast :

The broadcast deck is now fully set up for multitrack , meaning , all audio is handled ( and correctly ) through the deck . Gone are the days of so different audio inputs with varying settings handling the mix in software ( this won't really matter for anyone in the Cage , but useful for people interested in audio stuff )

   

You will no longer hear yourself speak , but will hear others on the mic . If you are solo and want to check your mix , you can monitor fairly easily , there will be a note on how to do this ( image shown for reference , everything is done through pressing buttons , which we all love to do , the broadcast computer does not need touched )

     

Someone too quiet ? You can now turn them up . Switch from Tekken 8 to King of Fighters 2002 UM ? You can now turn the game audio down , at the broadcast side yourself , without messing with the main stage / cab or head to head audio . 

What you hear is now 100% what the viewer hears . 

A control diagram will be setup , acting as an easy to use guide of functionality . No settings need to be changed except for adjusting faders or muting channels as you see fit ( or screwing with each other enabling voice FX ) .

MIDI Control has been fixed . Scene Switching is now handled on the pads .

All settings have been backed up now that things are finalized , in the event anything were to happen . We will document how to set these decks up for this , as from a brief search many seem to be wondering how to use it this way .

It's grilling time at the magical gaming arcade abeno... araiguma ! Saturday's high of 73 , low of 60 , it's going to be good ! Talks of a tournament ? And . . 

The return of normal hours ! ! We're rolling back to start again at 2PM instead of 4PM ! Closing still Midnight *

The Discord events are going back to being listed how they were before , manually for every Saturday . We tried the "Series" for repeating Saturdays but it merged all the people who click interested and spans it across every event for the next eternity . Also took away the ability to write about what is going on and have pictures . It's a bit too impersonal , so they will be written manually every time again .

We're also starting up the photo wall of all the homies ! Bran brought her Instax for us to use . It was an " early days " plan for when we intended on setting up downtown , to have a big board of pics of everyone . So get swagged out and let someone know when you wanna get up ! Otherwise someone will come bother you about it at some point !

   

Space :

We got tiki torches for out back ! Outdoor setup space starting back up again . We're short on power strips though ! Also working on getting a crap load of plastic chairs from an old wedding place that closed up recently for next to nothing . Hopefully something to show in next weeks update .

KOF 2002 UM hardware has been obtained !

   

We've got the Taito TTX3 set up and running , looking incredibly nice ! No need for Brooks on any controller types . There is a known conflict when using two Hori Controllers ( type seems to not matter ) where one prevents the other from connecting , but remedies fairly quickly .

Future Location :

So things are still mega postponed with absolutely zero ETA on the downtown space . As of now , the ADA entrance to the lower level is not currently wired to be able to open from the outside . This is a pending task higher up than Room 28 . There is also a major flooring rehab happening to B1 , also higher up . This flooring will also include flooring Room 28 , which would roll into construction of Room 28 as a rental space . This likely won't happen this year but will keep an eye on it . The flooring of the entire lower level is a massive undertaking .

General:

Welcome to April motherfuckers ! 

Ha ha ha ha ! Just kidding . . That's a bit out of character for me huh ! Did I alarm you ? No worries , I have not gone rogue , just a bit older ! Some cool things in store ! 

Quick Note ! Please , DO NOT CHANGE SETTINGS ON ANY OF THE STREAMING GEAR ! It takes several days ( this is not a joke ) to fix when someone accidently kills it . It's a major time sink , please don't do this ? If you would like to learn to use the equipment outside of picking up a headset , talk to Yams and she can teach you how it all works   There is a guide to be left in Tthe Cage for basic operation in the works !

Broadcast :

Our YouTube side stream has been upgraded ! Initially the intent with an old dumpster dived laptop was to use as a DVR to record 3rd Strike rotations and then upload match footage . After gathering thoughts , everyone was hype about the idea of just streaming it directly to YouTube . This allowed us to preserve a better quality and directly uploaded ! It was very well received .

With the old head to head computer replaced , we have moved this to take over the 3rd Strike stream . It's quite an upgrade with higher bitrate stream , better camera performance and the addition of a room mic . 

   

Now that the old DVR has been freed up , it will continue on setup as a DVR again this time for the Versatile City B . We will start uploading match footage from KOF 2002 / UM or other games during tournaments .

   

Space :

You might remember back on the 03/08/24 Weekly Update , there were drafted plans to update the floorplan of the Upstairs Hall . 

We have done just that !

   

   

A viewing monitor has been added to the hall . Currently running the stream and switchable to being a spectator monitor for Soul Calibur 2 during tournaments . 

   

The MVC 2 machine is being moved upstairs with the other US Uprights until we move to our next location . Soul Calibur 2 now has the appropriate space needed . Things are much better suited for the warmer season now and beyond !

Game Soft :

The King of Fighters 2002 Ultimate Match Tougeki Ver. is now supported on the Versatile City B . There are now 3 available systems running this title for tournament play . This setup has been heavily vouched for so we're giving this a shot . This has also been tested to not have the issues with controllers that we had previously with UM ( one of the main reasons for being pulled last week ) .

   

Arcana Heart FULL ! is now supported on the Versatile City B .

We added a page for the Araiguma Shop ! Currently a way to show all stock / prices for Araiguma merch ! Good showing for all in person folks who would like to show their support ! 

Currently no way to place orders online except for sending a message through the contact form . Many have reached out from afar wanting to support and get our dope slaps and badges ! So now they can ! This is currently the most manageable way we can be set up for this before fully launching the shop where things are orderable from the page !

General : 

Happy Colorful Egg Weekend everyone! 

We're unfortunately having to cancel this Saturday due to a Snorlax blocking the path .

   

Plans to update the floor plan of the Upstairs Hall have been postponed due to sickness but will be happening once everyone is better !

We do have a few good things to announce at least for when we return on April 6th !

Hardware :

King of Fighters 2002 ( NEO GEO MVS ) is now supported on the Versatile City B ( Previously FB NEO ) ! Thanks to an incredibly generous donation allowing us the purchase of a Supergun with USB decoders built in !

This update to change from PC to the MVS comes with all the benefit of moving from 30th Anniversary Collection on PC with 3rd Strike to the CPS-III . The smoothness and incredibly playability difference is now benefited with all MVS titles . This is 100% the most accurate and competitive way to play . 

^This has been updated to say we are not outright replacing King of Fighters 2002 UM , poor wording had made it sound this way . UM is having issues at the time this was written and during this week is not available downstairs but working in the Upstairs Hall ( Hopefully news on this for next weeks update ) .

This system will also allow us head to head battle of many other titles for casuals and tournament such as Twinkle Star Sprites , Neo Turf Masters , Neo Bomberman , Breakers Revenge and more !

   

The two new cab additions of the Namco Blancs are now playable ! Currently all supported titles playable except Tekken 8 and Street Fighter 6 at this time . There is still much to be done to our new Main Stage cabs but we can at least start throwing down on them now . 

   

General :

Still on temporary reduced hours but looking like we will be returning within 1-2 weeks to normal ones . 

Broadcast :

All legacy audio systems have now been removed , Windows now handles none of the audio . All audio is now handled by the broadcast deck . All levels have been balanced between both Main Stage and Head to Head . All Microphones have been balanced . Audio will now be consistent . 

Additional control has been set up and a guide is currently in the works to be printed and left in The Cage .  

The DVR on 3rd Strike has been changed from recording to streaming and will now run on YouTube . 

   

Hardware :

Thanks to a generous donation we are able to bring in a new type Supergun to allow us to run KOF 2002 on original arcade hardware ( among all other MVS titles ) on the Versatile City B , moving away from 2002 UM ( PC ) . This will benefit smoother play and no controller issues , just basic input ( on / off switches ) . Expected by the weekend after next to be playable .

Not much to update this week ! But lots of great stuff for today specifically ! 

First, it's going to be 66 ! ! We have been cursed . Since our inception , Friday and Sunday are the warm days while Saturday will either be cold or raining ! But not today . No mud , the sun is out and we're celebrating Miss Karp's birthday ! !

It's also Rumble In The Prairie 14 Weekend ! We'll be running the RIP stream this weekend and welcome anyone to afterparty with us !

Conquest Mode will also be unlocked on Soul Calibur 2 today .
