11/02/24 – Weekly Update

General :

Welcome to November ! Things have been progressing well , we’ve been settling in and our rollout of Restoration of Services has been going well too ! A great deal of backend work has been done for cool future stuff .

New Hours ! We had an incredible ‘ Soft Opening ‘ in a limited capacity last night and it was a huge hit .

( Google handles these updates manually and we’re in queue , just taking a bit longer than usual ! )

We now have ‘ Community Night Open Hours ‘ every Thursday from 5:30PM to 9:30PM in operation alongside the UCIMC Community Nights ! During these nights , all machines are running various arcade titles .

Fighting games in operation this night : Soul Calibur 2 , 3rd Strike ( Both ) , Street Fighter 2 Super Turbo , and the Corner Station available for Street Fighter 6 ( Rotating depending on Tournament Schedules ) .

Folding tables are available for BYOC in The Hall on request .

It’s been suggested that we add a donation bucket so we have finally done that ! Donations being more important that ever , this will give us better opportunities to keep things going !

Space :

Many lighting adjustments have been . Some not so successful as others . Currently settled on a more industrial look , without diffusers and single bulbs , we’re given an attractive light space that is not too bright but also has a nice Foot Clan vibe to it . The room no longer looks washed out .

UC Mahjong Club :

There are interested local people who are looking into heading up the Urbana Champaign Mahjong Club ! A tour will be given with this group on Saturday of the building and likely looking to get some Mahjong going during our Saturday event for anyone who might be interested in throwing down some tiles !

Hardware :

We’re are in the process of migrating the the Versatile City B 3rd Strike setup from CD-ROM to Solid State . There have however been some flashing issues , and once figured out we will update our old guides to also include images for ease of those looking to do the same .

We are also in the design phase of our Pop’n Music setup to set the high correctly to that of the arcade machine . It will also be more easily deployable and just visually attractive . Please continue to enjoy the high quality graphics and sound until that time !

We are also currently working on deploying a Beat Mania IIDX setup along side Pop’n Music to increase our Rhythm Game selection , special thanks to Naomi for being such a big push behind this effort and supplying components so that we can create the hardware interfaces for these devices !

ITG is still in the queue , and hopefully we can work this one out soon to get this back !
