10/04/24 – Weekly Update

General :

Not been able to get as much done this week as we would have liked but things have been going well ! We’ve had lots of new visitors during the week , feedback and inquires and it’s been great to hear from all of you .

If our doors are open outside of posted hours / events , please feel welcome to stop in and say hello ! As many know , we’re happy to turn on arcade machines while we work or answer any questions you may have ! If you have a Discord , joining our Discord server is a great way to become active in the community and make some new friends !

One of the things in the works is adding our own wireless access point in the arcade that should allow for much better connection with those on the building Wi-Fi . We’re hoping to have this up by the Saturday after this . The Naomi Universal ( Sporting MVC2 at the moment ) is 90% operational with some additional work required ( Possibly to be done today ! ) .

Future Events :

From many new visitors a lot of enthusiasm was expressed about the potential of additional events and events done in conjunction with the Independent Media Center and City of Urbana . So no better time to communicate this news. We are actively finding ways to participate along with other tenants of the Independent Media Center during the Community Nights and IMC Member Orientation Nights .

Also in early discussion would be running special events along side things like the Urbana Sweetcorn Festival and Boneyard Arts Festival ( to which the Independent Media Center participates ) .

Discord :

We complained , they answered ! Apparently this was in a past update since the last time we struggled with this , but we’re back to using the Event Series for weekly repeating nights !

You can RSVP for a single event , or every event in the series ( which used to be the default ! )

Space :

We’ve started decorating for Halloween spooky season !

Candy buckets out for our usual Halloween Candy Potlucks ! ! One will be here in the Arcade and we’ll have the other set out in The Hall ! Lots of lights up ! If anyone would like to donate any old decorations , please feel free !

As we always do for Holidays , we will be having our Halloween Special ! Being that we’re landing on a Thursday with the following Saturday being in November , we’re going to be doing our Halloween Party on Saturday, October 26th !

We hope to set up some sort of candy table outside of the arcade during the week of October 28th to get some community Trick-Or-Treat action for tenants , working groups and their visitors ! Maybe we can get some others to join in with us !

Hardware :

A fault in the audio circuit on the second versatile city 3rd Strike board has been temporarily remedied . The buzzing will no longer be heard . The board will be serviced to permanently remedy and restore stereo sound .

Broadcast :

Set up and running on the dedicated 3rd Strike Side Stream and run for when the Main Stream goes back up after some repairs , we’ve got the audio drops for the floor mics

Software :

MARVEL vs. CAPCOM Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics has been installed on all cabs and house setups
