02/16/24 – Weekly Update

General :

Hello everyone ! We’re on break this Saturday after all , and all event times had been updated earlier in the week on Discord and announced for a February 24th re-opening . No update possible last week but we have just a few updates this week , one is a pretty big one !

Hardware :

We have taken receipt of our new ” Main Event Cabs ” , the Namco Blanc ! 

These cabs will be used at the current location as our streaming cabs to be used during nice weather bracket events . 

There is a full Araiguma Battle art kit being designed to take the place of all the current artwork currently displayed on the machines . At the new location , during larger events where we use the upstairs venues , these will be our main stage setups . 

Future Location :

Big news ! The Elm St. Ramp is now open !

This will be our street facing entrance for the Room 28 location when we move . All food deliveries will be made here or ride pickup/dropoffs . 

Previously it was stated that work to begin on Room 28 would be started after the ADA project was completed , however there is still a new matter which has to be taken care of now in higher priority for the Community Center .

The asbestos flooring in the lower level is getting old and worn and requires to be covered or replaced. The UCIMC has received a grant to entomb the asbestos with new flooring , thus reflooring the entire B1 level of the building . This includes Room 28 as it is to become a rentable space . 

There is currently no timeline on this project , contractors are actively going over the project . We should make some more information on this soon ! A mid-summer competition is not yet out of the question . This is a massive overhaul that will disrupt current tenants so this could push us out a bit further . 

We’re in no hurry to leave our current residence so we’re good !
